4WD Rates and Conditions

To Hire a 4WD Vehicle:

The driver must present a valid driving license to drive the vehicle being hired.

The driver must be over 21 years of age at the time of driving

A credit card number or a minimum advance payment of one day hire is required to secure a booking.

All vehicles carry comprehensive insurance with $2 000 excess (non-waiverable).

With every hire, a QNPWS permit must be purchased to access the National Park. This permit is available at time of hire. If you intend camping while on Fraser Island, National Parks camping permits must also be purchased. Camping Gear is available and can be hired.

Barge Fees are additional.

All Vehicles are supplied full of fuel and must be returned full.

Upon booking confirmation, Fraser Magic will secure your barge reservation and pre-complete your National Park driving permit application form.

Your first day of hire begins 2 hours before barge departure time and your last day of hire finishes 1 1/2 hours after barge departure time, unless special arrangements have been made. 4WD hire for Fraser Island is unique and is not the same as basic mainland car hire. 4WD hire is not based on 24 hour segments but on calendar days.
