"The most beautiful experience we can
have is the mysterious." Albert Einstein.
This is the definitive photograph of the 25 sandblows on Fraser
Island. Sandblows bury the forests in their path as they are blown
across the island by the prevailing South-Easterly winds. Only hundreds
of years after being buried do the trees' skeletons become exposed
again. Although these forests die under tonnes of sand, every hill
on Fraser Island is there through the action of a sandblow. If you
were to return to this place in 1000 years it would all be covered
by plants again.
